What is FIAT LUX?
Every significant medium has a founding moment. The first photograph. The first film. Someone was present at the origin.
FIAT LUX is the founding program for Computational Reflective Imaging — a new method for encoding optical intelligence permanently into physical geometry. No screen. No power. No electronics. An image made of geometry and light.
The technology exists. The physics is understood. The patents are issued. The first works have been made. What doesn't exist yet is the audience — the first 100 people who will own a work from the inaugural series and help constitute the medium's meaning.
This is that invitation.
The medium in brief
A Flective surface contains thousands of mirror pixels. Each pixel is permanently angled according to a computational design that encodes an image.
When ambient light from the environment strikes the surface, each pixel redirects a specific ray toward the viewer at the design viewing position. The image assembles in perception, not on the surface.
As the viewer moves, the image moves. As the light changes through the day, the image changes. The surface is inert and permanent. The image is alive.
7 issued US patents. 15+ years of development. The fabrication technology to realize it at quality has only recently become available. The IP window and the technology readiness window are converging now.
The program closes permanently at 100. No additional founding memberships will be issued at any price.
